Pre-Departure Introduction

Hello everyone! My name is Lila and I am a sophomore Accounting and Finance double major at Smith. I am going to Seoul, South Korea through the Global Entrepreneurship Semester at Yonsei University where I will be studying and interning abroad. I chose South Korea because I have always been passionate about Korean culture and language ever since the moment my cousin introduced me to K-pop and K-dramas. 😉

One thing I am nervous about is how I will survive these next six months because I have absolutely no prior experience abroad and I barely know enough Korean. However, I am very excited to go because it has always my dream to go to South Korea. I hope to try all their spicy food, street food, and desserts as well as go to K-pop concerts to meet my favorite celebrities.

I hope that through this program, my Korean will be on par with an intermediate to advanced learner and that I will be able to grasp the Korean business environment. I hope to make lots of friends, eat lots of food, go to lots of places, learn lots of things, and have lots of fun!

I chose the GES program because it suits my needs and interests perfectly! I can study and intern abroad at the same time which is something that I really like because I get to experience both the academic and professional side of a new culture. It is also the perfect length of time for me to be immersed in the culture and to experience what it is like to live as a native would. So if you are interested in learning about and experiencing South Korea with me, please join me on my 6 month long journey!
