A Nice Time in France
Now that I’ve introduced myself it’s time to jump into telling you about some of the fun things I’ve been doing and experiencing here (and trust me there’s plenty to talk about). After a two weeks of being in Barcelona my friends and I decided it was time to explore, so spontaneous round trip tickets to Nice, France were booked.
We flew into Nice without a clue of what we were going to do during our stay. We arrived on a Friday and were promptly dropped in the middle of Nice’s city square. Our cab driver from the airport had given us some great suggestions of things to do in our short 5 hours there before heading to our Airbnb in a nearby, small town called Cap D’ail. He suggested we take a short 20-minute hike up to a lookout point where you can see the entire city.
After exploring Nice and it’s beautiful beaches, we decided to hike up. The hike up was nothing special and we were beginning to doubt our cab driver’s suggestion, until we got to the top and the trees cleared, revealing a stunning view of the beaches and entire city. We stayed at that point for some time taking pictures and taking in the scenery before heading back down.
After exploring Nice and seeing everything we wanted to, our time was up and we headed to the train station to get to our Airbnb. After a 10-minute train ride, we arrived in the quiet town of Cap D’Ail, a beautiful coastal town right outside of Nice. The town was small and relatively low key. Being off season, we were just about the only ones there that spoke English, which gave us a great chance to practice (and learn) some French. We settled into our rental, and spent the night exploring the town’s restaurants and small bars, which was a relaxing end to an exhausting day, and a nice place to get away from the hustle and bustle of Nice.
All in all the trip was a fantastic, unplanned success that I am very glad I was able to experience. From seeing Nice with a bird’s eye view to getting away from it all in a small town on the French Riviera, I would definitely recommend this experience to a friend.
