We Love Military MBAs!

We are excited to welcome Frank Goertner, our new Director of Military and Veteran Affairs, to the Smith School!

Frank will work directly with potential applicants, including those interested in our Part Time MBA program. He will help applicants and existing students seeking to access military benefits and further their network in the business and national security community, as well as graduates looking to engage our veteran population.

A Little About Frank Goertner
Frank returns to the University of Maryland after previously completing two graduate degrees at College Park: an MA in International Relations in 1998 and an Executive MBA from the Smith School in 2017.  Also an alumni of the U.S. Naval Academy and Naval War College, Frank recently retired from the U.S. Navy at the rank of Commander.  His 21 years of commissioned service involved roles as a naval aviator, foreign area officer, personnel chief, political-military affairs advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, and leading analysis in the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations on future Navy missions and requirements.  Frank’s understanding of the military, his strategic thinking, and his experience with the University of Maryland make him an outstanding addition to our team.
