Ask Julie: I’m a new mom… are there any lactation rooms available on-campus?
I’m just starting my MBA program and I’m also a new mom… is there an empty room or classroom where I can go to pump? I’m assuming that there aren’t many “mother’s rooms” on a college campus!
I’m so happy to get this question, because I think it’s one that lots of new moms may be curious about! YES, we do have lactation rooms available at our campuses for our students to use. All three of our Part Time campuses in Baltimore, Rockville and DC have private lactation rooms. Our students just need to contact their on-campus advisor and they will be happy to arrange for access!
Just in case you need access to a lactation room during Opening Residency, there is also a newly renovated dedicated lactation room at our Van Munching campus in College Park. The room is located to your right as you enter the women’s bathroom outside of the Frank Auditorium (1522B) on the first floor of Van Munching Hall. The room does not have to be reserved ahead of time and is outfitted with a lock to ensure privacy.
