Dear Smith Community member,
We have received reports of an inability to save work in vSmith as well as lab/classroom and conference room computers directly to Google Drive. We have determined the error is occurring outside of systems we can control and have escalated the issue to the engineers who run the service at campus IT. As a workaround, or additional storage space, you can use your UMD Box account to save work to when using vSmith or lab/classroom PCs. To be able to access Box you will need to authorize the service by logging to Terpdrives at with your University Directory ID and password and under Box click the Authorize button.
You will now find a new drive letter in vSmith and lab/classroom PCs when opening and saving files that goes direct your Box account. For more information on using Box or accessing your saved files through a web browser, follow the link to the UMD DivIT knowledge base article on Box.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing and are working to restore normal service as quickly as possible. If you have any questions please contact the Office of Smith IT Service Desk at 301 405 2269 or via
Thank you
