Alissa Arford is the director of online strategy at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. She came to the Smith School’s Office of Marketing Communications in 2000 to help develop the first comprehensive website for the school. Over the years, her role has evolved to include everything from video production to the management of social media outreach. She has an executive MBA from the Robert H. Smith School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a specialization in advertising and a minor in psychology from the University of Maryland’s Phillip Merrill School of Journalism. Previously, she held positions at associations and a publishing company in the roles of website manager, communications specialist, reporter, and marketing assistant.
This started as an EMBA blog from the perspective of a current student. EMBA students should peruse the archived posts from 2009-2010. The blog currently highlights social media best practices and life post-EMBA.
