Literacy Tutor: Teach an Adult to Read

Do you want to assist in elevating literacy in DC? Literacy Volunteers and Advocates (LVA) is looking for volunteer tutors with a passion for reading. Your service will change a life. We want your drive and willingness to be a part of something great!

LVA provides a tutor training course (with a suggested $40 materials fee) to prepare our tutors to teach other adults, as working with adult literacy learners is a very special niche. After training, tutors are paired with learners to meet at times and public places in the District (i.e., libraries) that are mutually convenient.

We hold our training sessions every 6-8 weeks. Please visit our website (www.lvanca.org) and click on the events tab to see when our next session is being held.
