Career Services for the Part Time MBA Student

Deitrick Featured HeadshotOne of the many benefits the Smith Part Time MBA offers its students is access to the Office of Career Services.  While a majority of students entering the Part Time MBA space already have full-time positions and are not looking for a job or internship, they still benefit greatly from the countless resources OCS offers.  Below is a brief breakdown of some of the unique offerings of OCS that may benefit you as you progress through the Smith PT MBA.

Full-Time Access: 
Each of the three Part Time campuses has a full-time career services staff member dedicated to it.  They are available to meet in-person, online or over the phone. The coaching team strives to provide maximum flexibility to accommodate the working professional.  Typically, their day runs from noon to 7pm, but are willing to set-up a time to meet that works best for the student.

Diversity in Roles:
Career coaches are able to assist with all types of career development needs including:

  • Defining your career direction
  • Helping layout your career progression and career advancement plan
  • Assisting in networking
  • Reviewing and editing of your resume, cover letter and LinkedIn profile
  • Creating a job search strategy
  • Improving your interview skills and salary negotiation

Career Curriculum:
OCS offers a strategically designed program to help you build your core MBA career content as efficiently as possible. The program allows for you to practice storytelling, networking, and interviewing techniques that are critical to your MBA advancement. Through a phased approach, OCS will help guide you create a core career portfolio. The program consists of a mix of webinars and seminars throughout the year and repeats annually to allow you to get what you need when you need it.

Employer Development
The Office of Career Services houses the Employer Development Team. The goal of team is to develop and expand strategic relationships with leading companies to generate employment opportunities and continuing to build the Smith brand.  Additionally, the Employer Development Team works to engage Smith alumni as valuable resources both in the classroom and in the professional world.
