Why did you choose Smith’s Part Time MBA program?
I reviewed the Part Time MBA program rankings compared to the regional schools, as well as examined the ability to leverage all the location options at Smith. I was impressed by the diversity of the student body and also the fact that the admission’s office worked with me to accept my application when I called them three days before flying to Italy!
What was your favorite part of the Part Time MBA program?
The breadth of the electives courses allowed me to shape my course of study to match my personal and career interests
What was your goal for earning your MBA and did that goal change or stay the same through your Part Time MBA experience?
When I applied I wanted to make myself more valuable and marketable. I was searching for new jobs after being let go from my government consulting company during sequestration. As I worked towards completing the program, my focus turned more towards broadening my skills to enable me to expand markets where I could find my next career.
Since graduation, how have you leveraged your MBA degree?
I quite frequently find myself applying some part of my education to life since graduation. I also have an expanded desire to continue learning so I read a lot and I try to apply it to work and home life.
What was your favorite Part Time MBA class?
Change management, supply chain management, and new ventures.
If they made a movie of your life, who would you want to star as you?

Usually the two or three I am currently reading. Right now that is Zen in the Art of Archery by Eugen Herrigel, Tools of Titans by Tim Ferriss, and Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin. I also go back to Rise of Superman by Steven Kottler and Jamie Wheal, The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, and Apollo: the Behind the scenes story of one of humankind’s greatest achievements.
Do you have a favorite movie?
The miniseries, Band of Brothers.
What piece of advice would you give to yourself if you could go back in time to when you applied for Smith’s Part Time MBA program?
Attack the difficult courses with more of a disciplined focus and realize that a term is SUPER fast and leaves no time to catch-up.
