The current version of TurningPoint (Clickers) software installed on Windows-based computers has a defect that appears to remove all student licenses from the roster after session files are uploaded to ELMS-Canvas. In actuality, student licenses are still registered and active. Scores (participation and performance) are not transferred to the grade book, but the data remains in TurningPoint desktop software. It is recommended that TurningPoint software not be used in conjunction with ELMS-Canvas on Windows-based computers, such as those installed in classrooms, until the issue is fixed between 6:00 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. this Sunday, September 16. TurningPoint software can be used for polling and scores that are not intended to be sent to ELMS-Canvas.
DIT admins are currently working with the vendor to resolve this issue, and we will provide more information as it becomes available. Turning Technologies has assured us no session data will be lost during the upgrade and this has been tested and confirmed. However, there is always a slight chance for data loss. If you would like to backup your session files before the upgrade on Sunday, please visit TurningPoint Bug Fix Preparation (https://go.umd.edu/turningpointbackup) for instructions. We apologize for the issues this defect is causing and thank you for your patience as we work to implement a solution.
